2007 Chrysler Sebring Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Clock Spring Assembly on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: The supplemental restraint system which controls the air bags, should be disabled by disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable and then waiting two minutes to allow the capacitor to drain before proceeding. The factory setting of a service replacement Clock Spring includes a plastic locking pin that should not be removed until the steering wheel is attached; mismoving the pin may mean the Clock Spring must be correctly centered once more. Place the steering wheel where it points forward and lock the steering system. In the first step, take out the negative battery cable and afterwards, remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft. If you are planning to reuse the Clock Spring, connect the rotor to the case so the shaft stays in the center until the steering wheel is back in place. Lower the cover on the steering column all the way and take off both the upper and lower shrouds. Remove the right multi-function switch from the Clock Spring and then remove the left multi-function switch. Remove the screws attached to the Clock Spring at the steering column lock housing, disconnect the three wire harness plugs at the Clock Spring's back and then pull the Clock Spring out from the steering column.
