2007 Chrysler Sebring Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Be sure to isolate the battery's negative post by removing its negative cable before working with the parking brake cable. Block the tires and wheels to stop the car from moving when you release the lever for the parking brake. Remove the console in the center and lower the flexible brake lever in the footwell. Open the adjusting nut on the output cable of the lever to remove pressure from the parking brake cables and then pull the parking brake cables out of the parking brake cable equalizer. Remove the back seat cushion and fold back the rear carpeting to see the parking brake cables on the floor in the rear. Collapse the retainer on the right or left cable with a 1/2 inch (13 mm) wrench, then pull the housing straight out of the bracket. Support the vehicle at the rear, remove the nuts from the hub nuts and get rid of the wheel assembly. After uncovering the brake shoes, push out the hair pin keeping the parking brake cable linked to the support plate. Remove the parking brake cable from its holder and the opening in the trailing link. Take out the screw that holds the cable routing clamp to the case and then remove the nut for the second cable routing clamp. Take out the parking brake cable with a sealing grommet by pulling it form the hole in the floor pan.
