2007 Dodge Dakota Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Thermostat on a 3.7L/4.7L Engine on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: Clean the places where the timing chain cover and thermostat housing meet before service or repair. After that, place the thermostat with the spring side down and fit the thermostat housing over the cover in its recessed opening. Place two bolts into the housing and tighten them to 13 Nm (112 in. lbs.) to pull the housing tightly together, with the thermostat standing straight in the groove to avoid cracks on the cover, broken threads or coolant leaks. After that, hook up the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing, add the splash shield and bring the vehicle back down. Filling up the system, reconnecting the negative battery cable and starting the engine will allow it to warm up while you check for tank leaks.
