2007 Dodge Nitro Timing Chain Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Timing Chain on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before replacing the timing chain, make sure to disconnect the battery and drain out the cooling system. After that, you need to remove the electric cooling fan and fan shroud assembly and after that, take out the fan and fan drive assembly. Release both heater hoses attached to the timing cover and one hose from the engine to the lower radiator. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner (1), the crankshaft damper, the generator and the A/C compressor. An anaerobic sealer is used to seal the front cover and engine block on 3.7L engines right from the factory, but for repairs regular Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV sealant is required. Water pumps can stay where they are for the purpose of timing cover replacement. In the end, remove the bolts keeping the timing cover in place on the engine block and remove the cover itself.
