Q: How to Install an Engine Mount for 2WD and 4WD on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: When mounting the engine on a 2WD, use Mopar(R) Lock and Seal Adhesive, Medium Strength Threadlocker on the mount to the engine block and left engine bracket to the front axle bolts. Attach the left, then the right, engine mount to the engine block by using 8 bolts and torque them to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Then, slide the 2 through bolts into the engine mounts and only tighten the nuts to a loose fitting. Lower the engine so the through bolts are in place in the frame brackets, then tighten their nuts to 94 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Next, mount the oil drain trough and engine oil filter, get the car lower, set the fan into place and link the negative battery cable again. When working on a 4WD, lock the mount to engine block and the left engine bracket to front axle bolts with Mopar(R) Lock and Seal Adhesive, Medium Strength Threadlocker. Install both the right and left side engine mounts at the front axle, tightening the nuts to 94 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Raise the front axle so it is close to the frame, then screw on the through bolts, torquing the nuts to 94 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Replace the upper nuts onto the mounts and screw in the two bolts, but don't tighten anything yet. Drop the engine so that the engine brackets rest on the through bolts, with the underside holes of the engine bracket fitting with the mounts and the left engine bracket holes fitting alongside the front axle. Use a screwdriver to place all 3 bolts that connect the front axle to the left engine bracket and put the lower through bolts in loosely. Apply torque to the 4 through bolts of 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) and to the 3 bolts joining the front axle to the left bracket on the engine at the same amount. Attach the oil trough, engine oil filter, front crossmember and skid plate. Then, lower your car, set the cooling fan in place and resume connections by fixing the negative terminal to the battery.
