2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to install a Harmonic Balancer on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should always clean the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose well before installing the harmonic balancer. Fit the key on the crankshaft into the slot of the crankshaft harmonic balancer and put the harmonic balancer over the crankshaft partway. Crack Special Tool 8512-A by screwing nut 2 onto threaded rod 3 first, adding roller bearing 1 with the hardened surface toward the nut and sliding hardened washer 5 onto the shaft. Cover the threads on the threaded rod with Mopar (R) Nickel Anti-Seize or a similar product. Place Special Tool 8512-A on the crankshaft, press the harmonic balancer toward it and then apply 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.) of force to tighten the bolt. Then, place the cooling fan assembly and the radiator upper shroud in position, using an 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) tightening bar on the bolts. Connect the shroud fan plug, put in the upper radiator hose and install the accessory drive belt. Fill the cooling system again and link the negative cable to the battery.
