2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Use rubbing alcohol, making sure you don't use oily liquids or abrasive tools, to clean the timing cover and the engine block's surface before you install the timing cover. The 3.7L engine calls for Mopar(R) Engine Grey RTV instead of the anaerobic sealer that was factory equipped. Look at the o-rings around the water passages and change them if necessary. Add a 3 to 4mm thick line of Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV sealer to the front cover. Secure the cover by tightening each fastener in order to 58 Nm or 43 ft. lbs. After that, install the crankshaft damper, A/C compressor, generator and accessory drive belt tensioner assembly. Attach all of the radiator upper and lower hoses, the two heater hoses and the shroud with the viscous fan drive assembly. After that, put water in the cooling system and attach the battery's negative cable.
