2007 Jeep Commander Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Brake Booster on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Vacuum brake booster maintenance should begin with siphoning the master cylinder, taking out the main brake line from it, then the main brake line from HCU (4). Then, remove the secondary brake line at the master cylinder and at the HCU (4) and afterward take out the four lines from the chassis at the HCU (3). Before you lift out the housing and bracket, disconnect the electrical connector and take off the three nuts from underneath the bracket. Untie the brake fluid sensor cord (9) from the fluid reservoir (2) and remove the 2 bolts below the master cylinder (8). Disconnect the hose at the booster check valve (10) and following this, remove the hush panel (2) and the cover for the steering column opening (2). Take off the clip (1) holding the booster push rod onto the pedal pin (2) and slide the push rod away from the pin. Unplug the green connector of the brake lamp switch and take out the switch. In addition, remove the four nuts (3) holding the booster to the dash panel, remove the wire harness routing clips (3), guide the harness (1) to the side and downward and remove the booster (1) from the vehicle.
