2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: Is Your Passenger Air Bag in Need of Replacement on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To change a damaged or useless passenger air bag, first turn off the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the battery negative terminal and then spend a few minutes waiting for the capacitor to drain. Aim to protect your hands, eyes and arms when you're handling an air bag and its nearby surfaces to avoid irritants from any chemicals on the unit. Nothing foreign should enter or be trapped near the passenger air bag. Also, never paint the instrument panel top pad, since it needs to stay in its original color when the bag releases air. Take care to protect your instrument panel top pad from scratches as you place it with the air bag holder facing upward on a proper work surface. Put the passenger air bag housing into the retainer receptacle, making sure each hook at the back of the housing passes through the windows in the receptacle. Place the top pad back on the instrument panel and attach the air bag mounting bracket to the panel support using two screws, tighten them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Hook the passenger air bag pigtail wire under the lock-tab of the instrument panel wire connector firmly. Put the instrument panel back in the car, but wait until after all supplemental restraint system testing has completed before plugging in the battery negative terminal.
