Before installing the multi-function switch, shut down the supplemental restraint system by removing the negative battery cable and waiting two minutes for everything to discharge. Put the left control stalk in its neutral position and make sure the turn signal cancel actuator is drawn in. Secure the multi-function switch to the steering column, plug the two wire harness connectors into the switch housing and check that all alignment and locator tabs are seated on the steering column lock housing. Following this, put the shroud halves upside and sideways on the steering column, make sure the snapping features on the bottom fit into the slots on the top and use your hands to press them together. Attach the lower shroud to the upper shroud with the two brass screws, turning each to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). When the vehicle has a tilt steering column, pull it all the way backward and secure the tilt release lever. After that, install the battery negative cable.
