2006 Jeep Liberty Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before working on the multi-function switch, first turn off the air bag system by removing the negative battery cable and then wait for two minutes for its capacitor to empty. If your car is equipped with tilt steering, move the column all the way down, then get a screwdriver to remove the screws that keep the lower shroud attached to the upper one. Press the upper shroud together from each side to unclasp the snaps and remove each of the halves. Take out the two wire harness connectors at the back of the multi-function switch housing, then carefully pull up on the switch so that it comes free from the steering column lock housing. Before installation, move the left control stalk to the neutral turn signal position and make sure the turn signal cancel actuator is retracted. Adhere the multi-function switch to the steering column, link up the wire harness connectors and guarantee that the switch posts and locator tabs are totally in place. Bring the upper and lower shroud pieces together, making sure the snaps align and twist in the two screws to 2 N.m (20 in. lbs.). If the tilt steering column can be moved, return it to fully raised, push the tilt release button and then reconnect the battery negative cable.
