2007 Jeep Liberty Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Drive Belt on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: You should check that all the pulleys are working well before placing the accessory drive belt on a 3.7L engine. Proper alignment of the belt stops the water pump from operating the wrong way and causing the engine to overheat. Feed the belt around all the pulleys, except the idler, then use the tensioner to put the belt under tension so that the arm touches its bottom stop. After that, attach the belt to the idler pulley and spin the tensioner into it so the belt rests on each pulley correctly. Look for any belt wear over the indicator after installation; according to Ford, the gap on 3.7L engines should be less than 24 mm (0.94 inches) between the tang and the housing stop. After that, you need to connect the combination washer reservoir/coolant container.
