2008 Chrysler Pacifica Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Correctly Install a Clock Spring in a Steering Column on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: It is important to ensure the front wheels are straight ahead before you begin the procedure. Keep the centers of the rotor and case stationary and gently slide the Clock Spring off toward the top of the steering shaft. Position and secure the three pins on the lower part of the Clock Spring rotor hub inside three corresponding holes in the hub of the turn signal cancel cam, remembering that the uppermost pin on the rotor hub has an oblong shape and will fit only in the oblong hole in the hub of the turn signal cancel cam. Put the one pin and the two mounting ears for the Clock Spring into their holes on the multi-function switch housing. Secure the Clock Spring to the body by tightening the two mounting screws about 22 in. lbs. Link the two ends of the Clock Spring 7 wire harness connector to the corresponding connectors just below the steering column on the back of the Clock Spring case. Fit the upper and lower steering column shrouds 3 and 6. Attach and fasten the screw that holds the lower tilting cover to the lower side of the instrument cluster. When a new Clock Spring is present, pop out the plastic locking pin holding the Clock Spring rotor to the Clock Spring case to ensure the Clock Spring remains centered. First, install the steering wheel onto the steering column and then put the driver air bag onto the wheel. Be sure not to hook up the negative battery cable until proper testing is complete, so the occupants are not injured. Shut the hood.
