2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Brake Caliper for the BR4 Performance Brake System on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Make sure the parts you install for your BR4 Performance Brakes are correct for them, as mixing with other brake systems is forbidden. Begin by placing the disc brake caliper adapter over the steering knuckle, run two bolts through it and tighten them to 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.). Secure two abutment shims onto the adapter, ensuring that each one fits the shape necessary. Add the pads to the abutment shims so that the inboard pad shows the wear indicator. While handling the caliper, put it into position on the adapter over the brake pads so you do no damage to the caliper's boot on the guide pins. Set the guide pin bolts into the caliper guide pin bolt holes so that each guide pin lines up with its bolt hole, tighten the bolts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Then, mount the tire and wheel combination, tighten down the wheel mounting nuts using a torque of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Once done, put the vehicle on the ground and drive a few short trips, removing dirt and debris from the brakes and placing the pads in the right position.
