  A: Disconnect the negative battery cable and take out the two timing belt covers, one on top and one on bottom. Rotate the engine from the crankshaft and do not try to rotate the camshaft past the timing belt removal unless you need other work. Before removing the timing belt, be sure the TDC mark on the oil pump housing and on the crankshaft sprocket toe are in alignment. Then, unlock the timing belt tensioner lock bolt and fit a 6 mm Allen wrench into the top hexagon of the belt tensioner pulley so you can turn it clockwise until the belt can be removed easily. If the belt was torn because of tracking issues, you have to replace the belt tensioner pulley and bracket as an assembly.
