2008 Chrysler Sebring A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are the Best Practices for Installing an A/C Condenser to Avoid System Malfunction and Compressor Damage on 2008 Chrysler Sebring?
A: During A/C condenser installation, adjust the refrigerant oil to lower the chances of A/C issues and possible damage to the compressor. If you change various parts, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to get the amount of oil needed. If you are replacing only the condenser, use ten milliliters (0.3 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil. Always put on an O-ring seal and a metal gasket when opening refrigerant lines to avoid leaking. Placed the A/C condenser directly in front of the radiator, inserting it first then fixing the top end of the condenser brackets. If you need to use one, link the automatic transmission cooler lines to the left side of the condenser. Put the vehicle up on stands, fit and secure the lower condenser retaining brackets with the two bolts and tighten them to 40 in. lbs. On gasoline engine cars, locate the A/C liquid line inside the front opening in the fascia. Eliminate any obstacles from both the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port and grease a new rubber O-ring seal with refrigerant oil. Place it over the liquid line fitting, then put a new gasket on. Put the A/C liquid line into the condenser and screw on the nut to a torque of 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Raise the vehicle again, take off any tape around the discharge and jumper line fittings and also remove the tape or stops from the condenser inlet port. Make sure to lubricate new rubber O-ring seals and put new gaskets on the discharge and jumper line fittings. For this type of model, reposition the radiator so slightly that you're able to find the condenser, attach the jumper line and provide a loose fit for the nut. Mount the jumper line firmly to the radiator using a bolt and after that tighten the nut on the discharge jumper line to 18 Nm. Join the A/C discharge line with the jumper tube, then tighten the nut on it to 18 Nm. With the gasoline engine, shift the radiator and bolt on the upper radiator mounts. For 2.0L diesel engines, replace the front bumper with the new one. Attach the negative battery cable back, but do not allow the engine to run while a vacuum pump or vacuum exists in the A/C system to keep the compressor undamaged. Evacuate the coolant system first, then, when replacing the condenser, add 10 milliliters (0.3 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil. When replacing several components, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to pick the proper amount of oil needed and add it to the system.
