  A: Before working on the outer tie rod, make certain that the front wheels are pointing straight ahead. Position and support the vehicle, then detach the three wheel mounting nuts and the tire and wheel assembly together. Relax the tie rod jam nut. After that, remove the nut that holds the outer tie rod to the knuckle by securing the rod end stud and using a wrench to take off the nut. Open the end of the outer tie rod from the knuckle using Remover, Special Tool 9360. Once all the steps before are done, take the outer tie rod completely off the inner tie rod threads, noticing how many turns it made when you removed it for future reference when installing.
