2008 Dodge Caliber Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install a Brake Booster on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: It is important to fit a new dash seal to the booster mounting studs before you install the power brake booster. Guide the push rod and studs through the dash panel until they slide into position on the power brake booster. After that, fit the four power brake booster mounting nuts below the instrument panel and tighten them according to the right sequence with 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Take a dab of Mopar Lubriplate or an alternate product and put it on the spot of the brake pedal pin touching the brake booster input rod. Link the brake booster push rod to the pin along the brake pedal, then fit a new retaining clip to secure it and don't re-use the old one. Replace the original stop lamp switch if you have to adjust it, because it can only be adjusted one time during installation. Install a new stop lamp switch in the mounting bracket for the brake pedal. Put the steering column opening cover reinforcement in place and nail it with mounting screws. Put the stolen lock cover (and air bag if necessary) on the instrument panel above the steering column. As you connect the vacuum hose to the check valve, remember to route the hose far from any surfaces you don't want it to touch. Connect the air hose to the vacuum valve, bolt in the master cylinder and secure the battery negative cable to its spot on the battery. Drain the brake system ledge if needed to get a strong brake pedal before attempting to drive the vehicle. After that, ride the vehicle to check if the brakes are working correctly.
