2008 Dodge Caliber Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace Rear Brake Pads on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: First, jack up the car and place it on stable jack stands, to do the brake pad replacement properly. If a moan is heard from the rear brakes as you drive in reverse, having them checked and fixed right away is important. Wing up by taking out the wheel mounting nuts and then removing the tire and wheel together. To make it easier to remove the caliper from the knuckle, you may have to back off the caliper piston a little by pulling on the caliper from its backside as you work with the guide pins, taking care not to force pressure directly on the piston. Following this, remove the lower guide pin bolt from the disc brake caliper, ensuring you don't put too much pressure on the flexible hose as you move the caliper. Lift the caliper up slightly, so you can take out the brake pads and lock it there with either a wire or a bungee cord. First, slide off the inboard brake pad from under the caliper adapter bracket by hand. Then, push the brake pad retaining clip back, lift the outboard brake pad up and slide it off the caliper.
