2009 Dodge Caliber Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Pad on 2009 Dodge Caliber?
A: It is important to raise and support the car before you replace the rear brake pads. Replace the wheel mounting nuts and then their tires and wheels. There are cases in which you need to pull the caliper piston out slightly to give clearance for the pads to be pulled away from the rotor; this is best done rearward displacement of the caliper while pushing against the guide pins. Remove next the lower guide pin bolt from the disc brake caliper. Take time to make sure the rear brake caliper does not damage or overstretch the flex hose as you move it. Lift the caliper straight upward to enable brake pad removal, then hold the caliper assembly in place with wire or a bungee cord. Take the inbound brake pad off the caliper adapter by separating it and the outside brake pad by raising the retaining clip over the raised spot on the caliper and pulling the brake pad off.
