2008 Dodge Caliber Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Does the Evaporator Influence Refrigerant Oil Level Adjustment in A/C Systems on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: Proper operation of the A/C and protection of its compressor require you to adjust the refrigerant oil level during servicing. Should you change several A/C parts, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities to decide on the amount of oil you should use. When the A/C evaporator is replaced, just use 20 milliliters (0.7 fluid ounce) of the proper oil for the A/C compressor. Whenever you open a refrigerant line, make sure to replace the O-ring seals and gaskets so you don't end up with leaks. Start by fitting the seal onto the evaporator tube tapping block and be sure the foam insulator is aligned in the correct location inside the HVAC housing. Put the A/C evaporator and foam insulator into the lower half of the HVAC housing and fill in the rest of the housing with the A/C evaporator. After replacing the evaporator, add the proper amount of recommended refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system using oil for the vehicle's A/C compressor.
