2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace an Oil Pan on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before working on the oil pan, make sure you take out the negative battery cable. We won't be raising the engine at this point-install the engine support fixture tool first. With the bolts still in place, loosen up both left and right side engine mounts. When you have structural dust covers, remove them and drain the engine oil. Following this, remove the front crossmember and only raise the engine as necessary to access the oil pan, always making sure nothing is hindering the fan shroud from touching the fan or the cowl from blocking the intake manifold. Lift the engine up with special tool 8534 before removing the oil pan. Don't attempt to check the oil pan gasket or pry it up, because it is attached to the windage tray and will not be removed with the oil pan. Get rid of the oil pan and its mounting bolts and also take out the oil pump pickup tube once it's unbolted. After that, examine the lower windage tray and gasket and replace any that need to be swapped.
