Before installing the driver air bag, cut off the SRS by removing the negative
Battery Cable and after two minutes, the system capacitor should be discharged. Avoid introducing new items to the driver air bag and keep anything from being caught between its cushion and cover, because painting over the trim cover may harm its performance. Whenever the air bag is not available or has serious damage, but the supplemental restraint was not deployed, use the suggested steps for handling those kinds of restraints. After the air bag is deployed, check the guidelines for service after deployment before you remove it. Adjust the driver air bag near the
Steering Wheel so you can reconnect all three electrical cables at the back of the air bag housing. Connect the two air bag pigtail wires from the Clock Spring driver to the air bag inflator connector receptacles, so that both make a clicking sound when attached. Attach the horn switch unplugged wire to the horn switch feed pigtail connector that is found on the back of the driver air bag housing. Be sure that the driver air bag is correctly placed in the steering wheel, so that the Clock Spring pigtail wires and steering wheel wire harness stay loose. Put the two screws through the bottom of the steering wheel from the inside and set them into the driver air bag to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Don't insert the negative cable from the battery at this moment, as the SRS verification test must be done after working on any SRS part.
