How to Install an Air Bag for Side Curtains on 2009 Dodge Ram 2500?

Before putting in a side curtain air bag, you must stop the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by disconnecting the vehicle's negative battery cable for two minutes. Because of possible irritants, always cover your hands, eyes and arms with gloves and a long shirt when handling a deployed air bag. Install and inspect the proper amount of spring nuts along the inner roof rail of your cab (four on standard, six on quad or eight on mega). Insert the side curtain air bag into the vehicle, then place and push in the three, four or six push-in fasteners according to your cab type until they are fully seated in their holes in the inner roof side rail. For the standard cab, use four screws, for quad cab it's five and for mega cab it's eight to attach the air bag and tighten each screw to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Fit the connector for the side curtain air bag in its place and push it in all the way. First, link the plastic retainer clips attaching the front tether to the inner A-pillar, then fasten and tighten the screw at the end of the front tether retainer to the base of the A-pillar, again to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). For a mega cab vehicle, attach the two rear tether retainer clips to the inside C-pillar and fasten and tighten the screw to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.), just as you did before. After that, place the headliner back in the vehicle and do not reattach the negative battery cable until the SRS service procedure is finished for any part related to the SRS.
