2008 Dodge Viper Control Arm Bushing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install Control Arm Bushing for the Front Lower Control Arm on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: You should first separate the lower control arm from the vehicle and use vise with soft jaw caps to help keep it safe. Set the bushing that you want to remove closest to the jaws inside the vise and lock the lower control arm on top. Prior to using Special Tool 6969B, grease the threads on Screw Assembly 6969-3. Join the two parts of Remover/Installer and insert Special Tool 6969B through the bushing. Special Tool 6969B should only be handled with hand tools, not impact wrenches. After removing the arm, pay attention, as a little bit of the rubber bushing could fall between the Remover and the bushing bore inside the control arm, causing some obstruction. Secure Screw 4 of Special Tool 6969-3, then turn Nut 1 of Special Tool 6969-4 clockwise to pull the isolator bushing from the control arm into Receiver, Special Tool 6969-2. When installing the bushing, use the correct methods for the front lower, stabilizer bar and upper control arm bushings.
