When you start working, move the shock assembly out of the vehicle, making note of the coil spring and shock assembly if there are two that need to be repaired at once. Follow the manufacturer's wishes when placing the shock assembly in the strut coil spring compressor and hook the lower ends of the coil spring to the hooks on the bicycle frame. After that, clip the top hooks onto the spring coil and push both coil springs into the compressor to create space for extracting the top seats. To remove the upper seat part with a coil spring, press up on the shock absorber, collar and jounce bumper and use the notched opening in the side of the seat. Open up the coil spring assembly and push out the shock absorber from the bottom, backing off the compressor's drive if the spring is under tension. When your coil spring needs to be serviced, unhook the tensioner entirely, move back the compressor hooks and remove the spring from the spring compressor. Check the shock assembly for signs of the shaft being stuck, any cracks, bend in the seats, weak spots in the jounce bumper and damage to the plastic collar, changing components where there is an issue.
