2008 Jeep Commander Parking Assist Distance Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Parking Assist Distance Sensor on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: For work on the Parking Assist Distance Sensor on the rear, fit the O-ring spacer so that the wide section is against the housing and the narrow section is facing outward toward the rear part of the car. After that, place and fix the sensor into the rear bumper sensor bracket from behind so the sensor bracket latch fully corrects on top and bottom tabs and the sensor membrane is attached to the rear bumper fascia. The sensors must be accurately arranged in the rear frame openings and their O-rings should not be squeezed, since improper centering or stuck O-rings of the sensors can decrease the performance of the park assist sensors. After that, plug the wire harness connector back into the sensor connector receptacle on the back of the fascia. After that, connect the battery negative cable and place the bumper fascia in the back of the vehicle for the inboard rear park assist sensors.
