2008 Jeep Liberty Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: Clean the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose before attempting to put in the harmonic balancer. Everything needs to be in the right position: crankshaft harmonic balancer slot facing the key in the crankshaft, then slide the harmonic balancer onto the crankshaft just a little bit. Foremost, pass the nut over the shaft, place the small roller bearing (1) on the threaded rod (3) so that the hardened part faces the nut and add the washer at the end. Cover the threads of the threaded rod with Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or Loctite No. 771. Put the Harmonic Balancer Installer 8512A around the crankshaft and use it to press on the harmonic balancer and then tighten the crankshaft harmonic balancer bolt to a torque of 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Then, place the accessory drive belt and afterwards link the negative terminal of the battery to its cable.
