  A: Before you replace your water pump, unhook the negative battery cable and also drain the liquid from the cooling system. When replacing the water pump, do not take the fan blade assembly off the thermal viscous fan drive. After that, take out the two fan shroud-to-radiator screws and disconnect the coolant overflow hose. Once that's done, carefully remove the upper fan shroud, together with the fan blade and viscous fan drive of the vehicle, so that the silicone fluid in the thermal fan drive does not spill into the bearings when the shroud is stored in a horizontal spot.
