2008 Jeep Wrangler Muffler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Muffler for Optimal Performance on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Place the muffler and tailpipe assembly where it should go, make sure the flanges of the muffler and catalytic converter are in line and install the nuts without making them too tight. Then, set the tailpipe hangers into the insulators to secure the muffler and tailpipe and check that there is no less than 25mm (1 inch) between them. After the muffler and catalytic converter are aligned, tighten the flange nuts to 28.5 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and then bring down the vehicle. Turn on the engine and look for leaks from the exhaust, repair any issues found and be sure there is no contact between the exhaust and the vehicle's body panels.
