• Q: How to Maintain an Evaporator in an A/C System on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

  A: Lift the HVAC housing out of the car and place it somewhere stable for the work to be done. For A/C models, I have shown the steps and RHD and heater-only models are like them. After this, separate the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing before removing the air inlet housing from the HVAC housing. Should the foam around the flange become damaged, replace it with a fresh new piece. Pull the foam seal (1) out from the flange (2) on the top of the HVAC housing (4), then uncross the two screws (3) holding the flange in place and remove the flange. Should the foam in the A/C evaporator or its tubes become deformed or torn, it has to be replaced. Take care to lift the evaporator and tubes (7) out of the bottom half of the HVAC casing (6).
