2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to install a timing cover on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, set the upper front cover, then fasten the timing belt cover to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.,) and install the upper torque strut. When your vehicle has a turbocharger, join the air conditioning lines at the junction block next to the upper timing belt cover and then recharge the AC. Move on to do the torque strut adjustment process. Setting up the lower front cover, fit the belt cover, tighten the fasteners at 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.), install the right engine support bracket so that the power steering pump is placed correctly and tighten the engine mount bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Put the engine in place and set the right engine mount through bolt, tightening it to 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs.). After that, connect the power steering pump and its corresponding bracket and finally attach the upper radiator panel. Fix the torque strut bracket to the strut tower, join the ground strap and fasten the upper torque strut in place. Once the charge the A/C is complete, drive the car up on the lift, attach the catalytic converter to the manifold and hook up the A/C pressure switch connector. Install the crankshaft damper, accessory drive belts and lower torque strut in that order and finish by performing the torque strut adjustment procedure. Security: Properly install the shield, add the right front wheel and attach the negative cable on the battery. With the rear cover, place the rear timing belt cover and attach its screws, turning them to the recommended tightness. After that, install the timing belt idler pulley by fastening its nut to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). To protect the camshaft-to-sprocket locating dowel pin, refrain from using an impact wrench on the bolts for the camshaft sprockets, then hold the sprockets with camshaft sprocket holder 6847 and apply 115Nm (85 ft. lbs.) of tightening force to the center bolt. Following that, put in the timing belt and the front timing belt covers according to the previous instructions.
