2010 Dodge Caliber Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Pad on 2010 Dodge Caliber?
A: For rear brake pad replacement, you need to lift and support the vehicle first. Loose the wheel mount nut and take out the tire and wheel together. Whenever possible, bring back the caliper piston a bit to ensure the pads aren't touching the rotor and make it simpler to remove the caliper from the knuckle by pulling the back of the caliper with the guide pins; do not forcefully press on the piston because this could damage it. You should then unbolt the lower guide pin on the caliper which sits on the silencer mount. During the repair process, avoid pushing the caliper too high and don't damage the rubber hose as you work. Raise the caliper just a little, so you can take out the brake pads and keep it in place with wire or a bungee cord. To start, pull the inboard brake pad out of the caliper adapter bracket and then remove the outboard brake pad by pushing the brake pad retaining clip past the raised area on the caliper so the brake pad comes loose.
