2009 Dodge Caliber Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Brake Caliper on 2009 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before installing the rear brake caliper, retract the caliper piston into the cushion with a C-clamp and also place a piece of wood over the piston for extra protection. Slide the outboard brake pad onto the caliper so that the retaining clip is lying at the corners of the depressed part of the caliper, above the raised edge. Put the caliper back onto the disc brake adapter, being careful not to pierce the guide pin boots. As you put the caliper guide pin bolts in place, be sure to line them up where they were before-however, the special sleeve may have a different location if the vehicle was built later. Line up the holes where the caliper guide pin bolts go with the adapter bracket, then tighten both upper and lower bolt bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). Press the hose into the brake caliper and tighten the fitting until it has 15 Nm (133 in. lbs.) of force. Pass the brake flex hose into the trailing link mounted bracket and clip it in place. Twist the brake tube nut on tight to the brake flex hose and make sure the torque is 17 Nm (150 in. lbs.). Create the tire and wheel assembly, tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and then lower the car and take out the brake pedal holding tool. As needed, release the caliper's bleed-off valve and also make several stops on the road to clean away any objects on the brakes and make sure the brake shoes are in place.
