2009 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service an Air Bag Sensor on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: Since you don't want the air bag to activate during service, disconnect and isolate the car's negative cable for two minutes to allow the SRS capacitor to drain. Since damage could occur and the calibration might be affected by hits or drops, keep the side impact sensor protected and avoid any strikes; if the sensor hits the ground, it needs to be replaced. Attach the side impact sensor underneath the floor panel next to the right or left outboard front seat adjuster, then insert the body wire harness connector into its receptacle on the sensor and verify the sensor alignment with the anti-rotation pin set in the center clearance hole of the floor panel, making sure the arrow on the sensor label is facing toward the car's outer side. Fix the sensor to the inner post with two 8 Nm (75 in. lbs.) screws, cover the sensor with its carpet cover and then attach the scuff plate trim onto the front door sill. Don't connect the battery negative cable until you've done a SRS verification test after working on any SRS component.
