2009 Dodge Journey Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Brake Master Cylinder on 2009 Dodge Journey?
A: Before removing the brake master cylinder on a left-hand-drive vehicle, vacuum in the power brake booster should be depleted by pressing the brake pedal 4-5 times with the engine off or by carefully removing and reinstalling the check valve on the booster with the grommet intact. After that, unplug the negative ground cable from the battery and isolate it. Unplug the brake level switch harness connection from the master cylinder and then take off the two brake lines from the master cylinder at their outlets, putting caps on the open outlets of the lines. Should the vehicle have a manual transaxle, first loosen the clamp and remove the actuator hose from the port on the reservoir. Clean the area close to the master cylinder attachment to the power brake booster with the brake cleaner. Take out the nuts attaching the master cylinder to the power brake booster and slide it straight out of the system.
