2009 Dodge Journey Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2009 Dodge Journey?
A: Before servicing or repairing the cable for the parking brake, first release it and pull back on the handle manually. Lift the car and after that, use a wrench to unscrew the three wheel mounting nuts and the wheel and tire. If it is still connected, remove the cable equalizer or equalizer/tensioner from both the front and rear cables. Hold the retainer fingers at the end of the housing where it's connected to the intermediate bracket and pull on the cable to release it. Following that, pull the right rear cable out of the loop it's contained in. To service the left rear cable, squish the small retainer fingers at the end of the housing and pull the cable out of the intermediary bracket. Remove the nuts that hold the cable routing loop to the trailer underbody where the trailing link adjoins the frame. On the right rear cable, undo the four screws attaching it to the crossmember and the upper bolt that relates the trailing link and knuckle, where the clamp is attached. Unbolt the trailing link from the knuckle on the top and undo the clamp securing the rear cable at that point, followed by removing the bolt that holds the rear cable to the trailing arm. Push the hands inside the cable retainer and pull the entire cable housing out of the mounting bracket. Withdraw the cable from its bracket in the slide, lift the parking brake cable out of the caliper lever and take the cable off the vehicle last of all.
