• Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?

  A: Before servicing or repairing the air door actuator/motor, cut off the air bag system by removing the negative battery cable and waiting about two minutes so the air bag system capacitor discharges. There are two ways to do this: for a single zone heating-A/C system, disconnect the negative battery cable; for a dual zone system, begin by first removing the negative cable from the battery and then disconnecting the second one. On the driver's side in a single or dual zone system, first open the glove box, then disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector from the blend door actuator at the back of the HVAC housing and finally remove the two screws that secure the actuator in place. On the passenger side with a dual zone system, first detach the negative battery cable, then get the HVAC housing out of the vehicle and set it on a workbench, next take off the HVAC wire harness connector from the blend door actuator at the front of the housing and finally take out the two screws that attach the actuator to the housing.
