How to Remove and Replace an Oil Filter on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?

Replacing the engine oil filter, a full-flow, disposable type, is best done using a Mopar(R) or an equivalent filter. Make sure a drain pan is under the oil filter before you start the job. Fasten an oil filter wrench to the oil filter and rotate the filter anti-clockwise to release it from the oil filter boss on the block. As soon as you remove the filter, make sure its gasket comes out along with the filter by tilting the gasket end upward. Then, go over the gasket around the chamber with a cloth to remove any dirt and oil.
