How to Replace a Liftgate Hinge on 2009 Jeep Commander?

Before replacing a trunk/liftgate hinge, lift the liftgate open and hold it up on a suitable prop or jack. Take the struts out from under the liftgate. Attach a trim stick C-4755 or similar tool and release the clips holding the header trim molding in the liftgate opening; then remove it. Mark one-half location on the liftgate inner panel for you to know where it will be attached later. Take out the screws holding the hinge to the liftgate and mark the edge of the hinge body halfway along the top header of the liftgate opening. Gradually pull the back section of the headliner down from its header, then remove the bolts and nuts joining the hinge there. After that, remove the hinge from the car.
