2009 Jeep Commander Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How Are Coil Springs Installed in Rear Suspensions on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Begin by putting the upper isolator (1) on the body's spring seat, then add the lower isolator (3) to the bottom of the axle bracket first. Pull the axle down and put the ID tag end of the coil spring (1) on top of the upper perch, then put the spring down on the lower perch. Hold the axle up with a hydraulic jack and then attach shock absorber (2) to the axle bracket and tighten the bolt to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). For the left spring, mount the skid plate bolt you removed and use a torque wrench to turn it to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.). After that, link the stabilizer bar to the body rail and tighten the bolt to 102 Nm or 75 ft. lbs. Afterward, fit the wheels and tires, restore the vehicle to its three supports and carefully lower it to the ground.
