2009 Jeep Commander Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Wiper Motor on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Open the liftgate and attach the rear wiper motor and bracket together so the mounting screws aren't tightened. Pass the output shaft of your motor through the open space on the liftgate outer panel, then screw the two mounting screws into their holes in the bracket that is secured to the liftgate. At the outside of the door, slide the bezel over the shaft and secure it in the hole for the liftgate panel. Secure the bezel and the output shaft to the liftgate outer panel by tightening the nut at 5 Nm (43 in. lbs.). From inside the liftgate, tighten the two screws holding the motor to the internal bracket to a recommended torque of 6 Nm or 50 in. lbs. Connect the liftgate wire harness connector to the end of the wiper motor connector. Attach the trim panel firmly to the backside of the liftgate. Install the rear wiper arm to the output shaft again. Lastly, connect the negative cable of the battery back up.
