2009 Jeep Liberty Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install and Adjust a Front Wiper Arm on 2009 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before you mount the front wiper arms, start the car by rotating the ignition just past the OFF position and then press the knob on the right multifunction switch to the OFF mode. When the wipers stop moving, turn the ignition switch off again. Before attaching the wiper arms, the motor needs to be parked so that the shafts and arms are indexed. Put the wiper arm's pivot ends onto the wiper pivot shafts so that the tip of the wiper blade is positioned at the correct alignment lines by the windshield glass. Pull the wiper arm up lightly to get some tension off the end, then push the pivot end of the wiper arm down and centered on the pivot shaft. Add the nut to the wiper arm, tighten it on the pivot shaft until the wrench reads 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and then screw it in more if needed. Turn on water, operate the front wipers, turn them OFF and check if the wiper arms are sitting in the right position. When you have completed all other steps, place the plastic nut cap onto the end of the pivot nut.
