2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder Without ABS on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before replacing the brake master cylinder, pump the vacuum in the power brake booster by pressing the brake pedal 4-5 times, with the engine switched off, until it gives a firm feeling. When needed, go to the battery negative terminal and unclip the air cleaner cover to shift it aside and take off the air cleaner housing. Detach the cable marked with a minus sign from the battery and put it aside. Pull back the power distribution center, unlatch it, lift it up and shift it away from the desk. Take out the connector from the brake fluid level switch in the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir using your hand. Take out both front brake tubes from the master cylinder and the two rear brake tubes from the proportioning valves. After that, add plugs to every open brake tube outlet on the master cylinder. If you have a manual transaxle, unclamp the hose and pull it off the reservoir port. Spray the brake cleaner on the area around where the master cylinder ge meters to the power brake booster. With the nuts off, slide the master cylinder out of its connection to the power brake booster. When removing the proportioning valves, turn each out from the master cylinder.
