2010 Chrysler Town & Country Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End for Inner on 2010 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before beginning, coat the inner tie rod's inboard threads with Mopar(R) Lock AND Seal Adhesive or a similar thread locker adhesive. After that, secure the inner tie rod into place on the gear using either a suitable tool or a crows foot wrench on the hex, tightening it to a torque of 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.). Gently fix the new clamp over the bulging end of the bellows, then push the new bellows onto the end of the inner tie rod and onto the gear body. Insert the little end of the bellows into the groove you cut into the inner tie rod. Put some Mopar® Lubriplate or another lubricant of similar type on the inner tie rod shaft groove so you can adjust toe without having to twist the bellows. Simply pull the small button of the bellows so that its inner ridge fits in the channel, then put a fresh clamp over the end. Grab each wing of the clamp with your crimping pliers and secure them to the gear body. For the proper inner tie rod, set the heat shield on the steering gear, install all the mounting screws and push-pins and tighten the nuts to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). Insert the threaded side of the tie rod jam nut onto the inner tie rod so that you can add the outer tie rod.
