2010 Dodge Caliber A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an A/C Hose Suction Line on 2010 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before fitting the A/C suction line, it is necessary to ensure the refrigerant oil level does not harm the A/C compressor. When you have to change several A/C parts, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to find out how much oil to add. Whenever you disconnect a refrigerant line, remember to replace both the O-ring seals and gaskets so that you prevent leaks. Remove every tape and plug that is present on the suction line fittings and compressor port. Apply clean oil to the rubber O-rings and install them and the new gaskets, along with only the R-134a required O-ring, on the suction line fittings. Connect the front part of the suction line to the engine compartment, attach it to the rear and set the retaining nut by tightening it to 5 Nm. Starting with the right front wheel house, move it over, install the right front wheel and lower the vehicle on diesel engine models. Join the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor and hold it in place by tightening the bolt to 20 Nm. If you have a gasoline engine, mount the drive belt splash shield, adjust the right front wheel splash shield, add the right front wheel and lower the car. If the car is diesel, place the right front impact sensor on the radiator support and hook up the negative battery cable once more. Drain any refrigerant from the system, check and adjust the oil level and finally charge the A/C. Both the A/C suction line and A/C liquid line are serviced as a single assembly at the rear. Place the assembly in the engine area, remove the tape or plugs from the lines and valve, add sealant to the new O-rings and screw the assembly onto the A/C expansion valve with a bolt tightened to 20 Nm. Connect the power brake booster vacuum supply hose on RHD models, tighten the refrigerant line bracket nut to 4.5 Nm and install the windshield washer, power steering fluid and engine coolant reservoirs again. Fasten the heat shield onto the dash panel and fasten it with three nuts screwed on tightly to 1 Nm. For these cars, take out any tape or plugs at the liquid line fitting and the condenser port. Apply grease to a new O-ring, insert the liquid line into the condenser and secure it with a retaining nut that has been tightened to 5 Nm. Ease off the tape or plugs on the suction line fittings, apply oil to a fresh O-ring, attach the front section of the suction line to the rear part and tighten the holding nut to 5 Nm. For the engine and transaxle you have, either attach the A/C suction line to the bracket on the A/C receiver/drier or the retaining bracket on the frame rail near the right front wheel. All models except late gasoline vehicles with a four-speed automatic transaxle should have their tape or plugs taken off the liquid line fitting and receiver/drier port. Make sure to insert a new O-ring seal, make the liquid line connection to the receiver/drier and tighten the retaining nut to 5 Nm. Replace the splash guard for the right front wheel house, mount the right front wheel, lower your vehicle and secure the negative battery cable to the negative post. Empty the refrigerant system, correct the oil level and fill up the A/C system with refrigerant.
