  A: Before starting to service the heater core, read and heed all the warnings and precautions for the system. The HVAC housing requires removal from the vehicle to perform heater core service. Take out the bunch of metal pieces called the HVAC housing assembly and set them aside on a workbench. Following that, take out the left side front floor duct. A deteriorated or damaged foam seal on the flange needs to be changed right away. Lift off the foam seal that is attached to the outside part of the housing near the fan. Lift the screw holding the flange to the front of the HVAC housing and remove the flange. When working on RHD models, take out the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing. Afterward, remove the heater core at the driver side from the air distribution housing carefully.
