2010 Dodge Caliber Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Correctly Remove a Steering Wheel on 2010 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before removing the steering wheel, put the tires straight ahead and unplug the negative battery cable so no air bag releases. Leave the air bag system capacitor to discharge for two whole minutes. After that, pull out the driver air bag by part number 3 and cut off the wiring connector attached to the Clock Spring. Grab the steering wheel and remove the bolt that connects the steering wheel to the shaft which is part number 4. Do not bump or hammer on the area of the steering wheel or shaft when you are working on it. Get a wheel puller with hooked legs and mount it over the steering shaft and matching the steering wheel. The Clock Spring rotor should never be rotated after removing the steering wheel, since that could damage the system. If you aren't sure the Clock Spring is in the center, do the centering procedure first and then continue. Once you're in Straight-ahead, take off the wheel from the splines with the wheel puller.
