2010 Jeep Liberty Camshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Left Camshaft Installed on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: The camshaft journals must be first oiled, then the camshaft should be fitted so that the sprocket dowel is close to 1 o'clock and the camshaft is at the center for easier assembly of the bearing caps. Then, fit the camshaft into its mount in the cylinder head and slide on the bearing caps, tightening the bolts by hand so that the numbers on the caps are in order from the front to the back of the engine and the arrows point toward the front. Provided you tighten the retaining bolts in the order described, tighten each one to a torque of 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.). Put the camshaft drive gear onto the timing chain, with the V6 mark between the two marked chain links. Set the 8428A holder under the camshaft, rotate it while holding the camshaft till the dowel on the sprocket lines up with the slot on the sprocket and immediately fit the sprocket onto the camshaft. Take away any extra oil from the camshaft sprocket bolt so it doesn't get over-tightened, then insert the retaining bolt and tighten it by hand. After the wedge locking tool has been removed, fit Adapter Pins 8346 into Spanner Wrench 6958 and tighten the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt to 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.). In the end, connect the cylinder head cover.
