2010 Jeep Liberty Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: For the best results, before installing the engine timing cover, wash the timing chain cover and block surface with rubbing alcohol and do not use oil or abrasive tools. In place of the OEM anerobic sealer, the engine requires Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV. Review all the o-rings in the water passage for wear or cracks and swap them out if it's needed. Use Measurement B Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV sealer and spread it on the front cover as a 3 to 4mm thick bead before mounting and tightening the flange head fasteners according to the order spelled out in the instructions to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.). After that, set in place the crankshaft damper, A/C compressor, generator and the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly. You should then place the top and bottom radiator hoses, install the heater hoses and snap on the electric fan shroud with the viscous fan drive assembly. After that, put coolant in the cooling system and join the battery connector to the negative terminal.
